This course is designed to develop an introductory working knowledge of basic CNC programming. The student will learn basic programming concepts and techniques which will include; a study of EIA word address formats, numerical control systems and machinery, process planning, two and three axis programming, and math for numerical control.Course Textbooks: Computer Numerical Control: Concepts & Programming,4th Edition

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:
a. Understand numerical control systems and components.
b. Identify and use various types of CNC machines and tooling.
c. Plan CNC machining strategies and operations from working drawings.
d. Write two and three axis programs in EIA word address format, for various machine tools.
e. Apply these methods and techniques to the Machine shop environment.
Evaluation: Course will include two tests and a final examination. A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful completion of this course.
This course will be held on Monday and Wednesdays.

Attendance Policy:
An Apprentice is expected to attend 100% of the classes in his/her course of study. Apprentices are also reminded that the classroom portion of the training is important, significant absences will impact the learning and could impact the grade received in the course. Any make-up work is at the discretion of the instructor and offered only in cases of excused absences. Companies will be notified of apprentice absences, lateness and leaving early.
