MWSC Introduction to Welding

Course Description
This  39 hour course offers an introductions of MIG, TIG and Stick Welding .

Course Outline:

     1.       Introduction and Course Overview
2.      Stick Welding/General Information
3.      GMAW-MIG Welding
4.      GTAW-TIG Welding
5.      OXY-Fuel-Brazing
6.      Cutting Processes
7.      General Review-All Processes

Course Activities:

Classroom instruction will include process descriptions/applications as they apply to sheet metal fabrication and equipment set-up.

Practical instruction for sheet metal include Gas Metal Arc Welding and Plasma Cutting. Welding and Brazing processes will be demonstrated but not instructed.


Course will include several tests as well as a pre and post-testing.  A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful completion of this course.   

Attendance Policy

Student is expected to attend 100% of the classes in his/her course of study.  All absences are recorded and reported to his/her employer.  The rationale for monitoring is apprentices MUST complete 144 hours of classroom study per year.  

Apprentices are also reminded that the classroom portion of the training is important, significant absences will impact the learning and could impact the grade received in the course.  Any make-up work is at the discretion of the instructor and offered only in cases of excused absences.
