MWSC Shop Math III

Course Description:

This course offers the student a review of Fundamentals of Geometry and an understanding of the Fundamentals of Trigonometry.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course the student will understand Trigonometry functions and be prepared for the next level of math courses

Course Outline:

  • Fundamentals of Trigonometry, introduction to Trigonometric functions, analysis of Trigonometric Functions
  • Basic calculations of angles and sides of right triangles
  • Simple practical machine applications
  • The Cartesian Coordinates System, Introduction to compound angles
  • Machining compound-angular surfaces:  computing angles of rotation and tilt- cutting and forming tools
  • Oblique triangles: Law of Sines and Cosines
  • Computing angles made by the intersection of two angular surfaces


Prerequisite:  It is recommended to take Shop Math I & Shop Math II.

2018/2019 Session Details: 
39 Hours
This class will run on Tuesday & Thursdays, 6 - 9 pm 


Required Books: 
  1. Machinery Handbook 29 e Toolbox Edition 
  2. Mathematics for Machine Technology 6e ( from previous course)
