The Manufacturers’ Association of South Central Pennsylvania Joins Energy Infrastructure Alliance
York, Pa. — The Manufacturers’ Association, which serves southcentral Pennsylvania, is the most recent organization to join the Pennsylvania Energy Infrastructure Alliance (PEIA), a broad-based coalition of labor, agriculture, manufacturing and other business interests that support private investment in pipeline and other energy infrastructure developments.
Founded upon the strength of the region’s industrial roots more than a century ago, the manufacturers’ association is a regional trade organization with 370 member companies located within the southcentral Pennsylvania and Maryland. In addition to serving as an advocate for manufacturing and its related businesses and industries, the association helps members be more productive, more competitive and more profitable in an ever-changing and increasingly challenging global marketplace.
“Utilizing Pennsylvania’s abundant natural resources and investing in its energy infrastructure is vital to ensuring that local businesses can compete in a global market,” said
Tom Palisin, executive director of The Manufacturer’s Association. “Pipeline projects are instrumental to the long-term economic success of communities in the south-central region of the commonwealth and will help create quality employment opportunities for area residents.”
Manufacturing and its affiliated businesses contribute $11 billion to the economy in southcentral Pennsylvania alone, Palisin said, providing employment for more than 110,000 residents.
The Pennsylvania Energy Infrastructure Alliance was launched June 8 by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, along with the Laborers International Union of North America (LiUNA!) and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66. There are more than a dozen members today.
Working in tandem, the alliance and its members seek to educate lawmakers, members of their organizations, and the public about the benefits of investing today to modernize and create new energy infrastructure to secure Pennsylvania’s future.
