The Manufacturers’ Association Foundation recently presented its first-ever Carl Winters Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award. The Association is recognized as the regional trade organization providing training and resources to manufacturers throughout south-central PA and north-central MD. The Foundation supports career education programs in manufacturing.
Each year, the scholarship goes to a high school student planning to further his or her interest in a manufacturing career, with advanced study following graduation. Just last month, this Award was presented to Jacob Crowther, a recent 2020 graduate of Dallastown (PA) High School who is attending Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, PA. Jacob will be a student in their machine tool technology program. “We are so pleased to present our first-ever Carl Winters Memorial Scholarship Award, a tradition we will continue for many years to come,” noted Brian Paterniti, the Association’s training manager. “Each year, our career programs and skills-based training reach hundreds of students, and our scholarship is just one more way we support individuals seeking to build a career in manufacturing,” he said.
The Association created the Carl Winters Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award after the passing of their beloved Apprentice Manager Carl Winters in June of 2019.
Carl, a talented toolmaker by trade, helped design the Association’s original Pre-Apprenticeship Program in 2019 and was well regarded throughout the regional manufacturing community for his knowledge and love for manufacturing, and his ongoing passion for teaching trade skills.
For more information about the Association’s training programs for high school age pre-apprentices, adult apprentices and company employees, contact the training department at training@mascpa.org or by calling (717) 843-3891.
