The Manufacturers’ Association is launching a “Manufacturing Center of Excellence for Apprenticeship and Training” at a new facility that will expand their industry training and education programs. The new location will expand the equipment and computer lab where the Association hosts its regional apprenticeship program as well as the available training space for its technical and professional skills training. The Association trains nearly 2,000 individuals annually and expects to dramatically increase that number in the new “Center of Excellence.” The innovative space will allow for leased office and event space for members and partners of the Association.
“This investment and expansion to a new facility is the next step in the evolution of our 100+ year old Association and will offer increased training opportunities and support that our manufacturing sector needs”, noted Tom Palisin, the Executive Director.
Association Board President, Adam Marsh – CEO of Ledge Inc. stated, “the nation will be faced with 2.4 million unfilled manufacturing jobs by 2028 due to talent and skill gaps; the investment by the Association to increase capacity is vital to the success of the region’s economic growth.”
The new facility located off Board Road in Emigsville, PA, provides easy access for the community and members and will allow the Association to expand its partnerships with other organizations. The building will also support the Association’s youth career programs including the pre apprenticeship training for juniors and seniors in high school who are pursuing advanced manufacturing careers.
The Association is also pursuing a fund-raising campaign, “Manufacturing Your Future – Together” to assist in underwriting the expansion and remodeling at the new location. The facility, an existing industrial building located at 3405 Board Road in Emigsville, is expected to be finished by year’s end with the opening to the public in early 2021. The Association has already received equipment donations, in-kind contributions and some funding support for the project.
