About Electron Energy Corporation
Electron Energy Corporation, part of Permag’s family of companies, has been a leading supplier and manufacturer of high-performance magnetic solutions for more than 70 years. Located in Lancaster, PA, EEC specializes in the production of samarium cobalt (SmCo) magnets, serving aerospace, defense, semiconductor, medical, and industrial customers globally.
EEC’s commitment to domestic manufacturing excellence aligns perfectly with the Navy’s MIB workforce development goals. The company recently announced an aggressive expansion of its magnetic manufacturing capacity, with a multi-million-dollar capital investment that more than doubles its production capacity. This expansion includes state-of-the-art alloying, pressing, and fabrication equipment designed to meet growing demands from customers across critical defense and industrial sectors.
“Critical industries around the world rely on a stable and secure supply of SmCo magnets,” notes Permag’s leadership. The company is uniquely positioned as the only US-based producer of samarium cobalt magnets, making their participation in the Navy TPP particularly significant for strengthening domestic supply chains and meeting growing commercial and defense demands.
Permag recently announced plans to achieve DFARS 252.225-7052 compliance for neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) and SmCo magnets by mid-2026, well in advance of the January 1, 2027 deadline, further demonstrating their commitment to supporting US defense requirements.
