I9 Bootcamp: I9 Binder Audit & Correction Workshop ( 5/12/26)
Calling all HR professionals responsible for your company’s I9 binders! If you “own” the I9 process, this day is designed specifically for you.
An I9 audit isn’t just “paperwork housekeeping”; it is a vital practice to protect your business from significant liabilities tied to unauthorized employment findings. ICE inspections are typically initiated with a Notice of Inspection (NOI), giving employers only three business days to produce requested I9s. Uncorrected substantive violations can lead to steep DHS/ICE inflation adjusted penalties, currently ranging from $288 to $2,861 per Form I9. For example, just 50 forms with errors could result in fines between $14,400 and $143,050.
During this bootcamp, you will bring your own binders and spend focused time getting organized, auditing for errors, and making allowable corrections so you are fully prepared before a government inspection ever arrives.
Objectives
By attending this bootcamp, you will be able to:
- Understand ICE Expectations: Learn what ICE looks for during an inspection and how the NOI review and correction process works.
- Identify and Categorize Errors: Spot common I9 mistakes, including identifying missing or incorrect forms, retention gaps, and distinguishing between technical and substantive errors.
- Correct Forms Compliantly: Learn how to make allowable corrections the right way without creating new legal risks.
- Mitigate Financial Risk: Catch problems early to reduce your company’s exposure to per form fines for paperwork violations.
- Create Consistency: Standardize your I9 processes across different sites and managers.
- Develop an Audit Ready Plan: Build a customized action list to ensure your company is fully prepared for any future audits.
