This course includes the fundamentals of line breaking, pipefitting and rigging. Students will understand types of valves used in industry, pipe markings, differences between double block and bleed and the PPE required to open process lines safely.
Students will be able to identify piping system material, size, and strength by ANSI pipe measuring protocol. The students will select proper fitting or joint for given piping scenarios and demonstrate proper fitting procedures. Threading, pipe flanges and hanger systems will also be covered. Lastly, students will be given the foundation to safely rig wire ropes, natural and synthetic ropes, slings and lifting equipment. Students will learn the physics of force, center of gravity, mechanical advantage, and levers.
