Mission: The Employers’ Education Foundation (a 501.c3 charitable organization) is committed to working with business, educators, students, parents and building those relationships to facilitate the development of a world class workforce.
The Foundation offers programs and activities in the community that supports the education and training of our youth in manufacturing careers. Manufacturing is the largest employer in York county and for every new job in manufacturing 3 additional jobs in other industries are created – manufacturing is critical to our economic success.

Scholarships: The Foundation manages two scholarship funds. These are advertised annually in High Schools throughout the region. Scholarship monies from these funds are given to a South Central PA High School Seniors who are accepted in to a technical or trade curriculum. These are given for one-year only in the freshmen year of college.

- Carl Winters Junior Memorial Scholarship
- Carl was a Tool and Die maker by trade for over 50 years he spent his “retirement years” at the Association and devoting spreading his passion to school students interested in a career in the trades.
Program Activity: Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Program: the Foundation supports a two year program to provide the skills required in preparing for an advanced manufacturing career for high school students. We work with over 30 manufacturers in southcentral PA who offered registered apprenticeship in many highly advanced trades and careers.
YES Program: YES is the Your Employability Skills Certificate Program a globally competitive pre-employment training program providing employers with certified applicants who are capable of meeting the demands of a quality work team environment while building a standard for life-long learning. High school seniors participate in the coursework at their participating high school.
iExplore Career Education: A website for students, parents and educators where you can find out all you need to know to make it big in an exciting manufacturing career. Our website includes a series of videos along with links to articles and educational resources intended to help you find the career that will put you in control of the newest technology; look to you to meet the biggest challenges; and, put the best pay checks in the pockets of those who make it happen. A career where you can really make it… BIG!
The website tool helps local youth learn more about some of the most in-demand jobs in Central Pennsylvania manufacturing. There are 9 founding members of iExploreManufacturingCareers.com including BAE Systems, Dentsply, Glatfelter Paper, Harley-Davidson, Johnson Controls, R.H. Sheppard, Snyder’s-Lance, Voith Hydro, and Weldon Solutions. The initiative was funded in-part by SCPaWorks.
National Manufacturing Day! The Manufacturing Days Tours program is a series of one-day events held in conjunction with National Manufacturing Day. Taking place the first Friday in October, National Manufacturing Day celebrates those who proudly stand behind our goods and services in America. In York County, over 200 students and 15 manufacturers participate annually! The Foundation supports these career education events throughout southcentral PA!
Manufacturing Career Day! The Foundation Partners with the York County Alliance for Learning to provide an annual career education day for students in grades 10 -12 in York County. Go to YCAL’s website to find out more about the program: Mfg. Career Education Program.
