Electricity I (2/26-2/29/24)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed as an entry level introduction to electricity and motors. Students will work hands on with electrical circuits and devices, safety equipment, and motors. Students will learn how to troubleshoot and diagnose problems within electrical circuits and how to remain safe while working with them.

Topics covered in this class include:

  • Introduction to Volts, Ohms, Amps, and Watts
  • AC and DC Power
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • How to use a Multimeter
  • Industrial Power Sources
  • Power circuit components
  • Relays
  • Safety Devices and Equipment
  • Electrical Schematics
  • Standard wiring colors
  • Troubleshooting electrical circuits
  • Contactors

Tools required: Screwdriver, plyers, and wire strippers.

*Students can use course credit hours towards Apprentice Program Requirements*

IP Cost: $650

Non IP COST: $1250

This course is supported through our Industry Partnership Grant to reduce the registration cost.
