COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will teach the theory of industrial sensors and closed loop systems. Students will wire PNP and NPN proximity switches to operate a solenoid. They will also learn techniques of troubleshooting sensors.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Students will gain knowledge of various sensors, their applications, how they work, and how to test each sensor.
COURSE OUTLINE
- Students will learn the difference between open & closed loop systems.
- Students will be able to classify sensors as either Digital or Analog in relationship with their output.
- The students will be able to distinguish electro-mechanical sensors and be able to explain their operation.
- Students will learn how semiconductors function and will learn their symbols.
- Students will be able to distinguish semiconductor-based sensors and explain their function.
- The student will be able to distinguish Photo-electronic sensors and explain their operation.
- The student will be able to distinguish Optoelectronic sensors and explain their operation.
